This Privacy Policy explains what personal information SawalJawaab collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you. It applies to our website, our study service, and any communication we send you.
We are the data controller for the information described here. SawalJawaab operates from Lahore, Pakistan, and handles personal data in line with the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and applicable Pakistani data protection requirements.
We collect only what the service needs in order to function:
When you use the service we record your answers, scores, timings, accuracy by topic and session activity. This is the raw material for your progress analytics and weak-topic list - without it, the product cannot work.
We also log basic technical information such as device type, browser, approximate region and error reports, which we use to keep the service fast and reliable on the range of devices our students actually use.
Your information is used to:
Other students never see your notes. The SawalJawaab team can see them, to keep the service safe and to find study material that helps everyone. We also count how often a note is opened and edited, so we can see which notes are most useful.
We may share a note with other students, after checking and editing it, without your name unless you agree to be credited. If we share one of yours we will tell you in the app.
When you delete a note, it leaves your Notebook and our team keeps a copy. When your account is deleted, we keep a copy of your notes and their photos without your name or any link to your account, showing only your exam and city, so good study material is not lost. You keep the right to your own words; by using the Notebook you allow us to keep, edit and share notes in this way.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not pass your number to coaching academies, universities, recruiters or advertisers. We do not display third-party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles.
We do not use your individual answers or messages to publicly identify you. Where we publish aggregate statistics about how students perform, they are anonymised and cannot be traced back to a person.
We share limited information only with service providers who help us run SawalJawaab, and only to the extent they need it:
Where a school or academy purchases access for its students, the institution can see the progress data of the students enrolled under its account. Students are told at sign-up when their account is part of an institutional group. Personal contact details are not shared back to the institution beyond what it already holds.
Account and study data is kept while your account is active and for twelve months afterwards, so that you can return to a lapsed account without losing your history. Payment records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law.
You may ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time. We will do so within thirty days, except where we must retain specific records to meet a legal obligation, and except Notebook notes, which we keep without your name as described in "Your Notebook".
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled infrastructure. Access to personal data inside our team is limited to staff who need it to do their work, and is logged.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify affected users and the relevant authority without undue delay.
You can, at any time:
Our students are typically aged sixteen to twenty. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under thirteen. Where a user is under 18, we expect a parent or guardian to be aware of and consent to their use of the service, and we provide parent summaries specifically so that oversight is possible.
We use a small number of cookies and equivalent local storage entries to keep you signed in, remember your chosen test track, and measure aggregate usage so we can improve the product. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear these at any time from your browser, though doing so will sign you out.
We may update this policy as the service develops or the law changes. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Where a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will notify you by email or in the service before it takes effect.
For any privacy question, or to exercise any of the rights above, write to help@sawaljawaab.com or to SawalJawaab, Gulberg III, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. We aim to respond within one working day and to resolve requests within thirty days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the relevant Pakistani authority responsible for data protection oversight.
